In the world of stem cells there is one stem cell that can actually self-renew and differentiate itself into bone and cartilage tissue. They are the mesenchymal stem cells. They are plastic adherent cells by definition which gives them a purpose like no other stem cell. The study of stem cells and the application of that knowledge is fascinating. We have come so far in medical science breakthroughs that the sky id the limit on where we will be in the future. What is amazing to me is the discoveries we make today are only the stepping stones into the laboratories of tomorrow. There are so many ideas in the world of life science that we have not even thought of yet. Who knows where the future will go through science. Where ever it goes I am sure we will still be using stem cells to advance it.
